The Hobbit - By J.R.R. Tolkien

A classic book in a series that essentially defined what fantasy is today. Journey with Bilbo Baggins, a hobbit who ventures out with a party of dwarves in search of lost treasures and adventure.

This book is good, but it isn't great. The beginning is just a little too slow and it is actually the reason I put off reading Lord of the Rings for so long, which I now regret very much. But, it does provide background knowledge for the rest of the series. I read it fully once again after I finished Lord of the Rings and it was interesting, just not spectacular. It's worth the read, however.
